Habitat

Moist conditions in part to full shade, and rich, slightly acidic soils.

Found in rich wooded slopes, wooded ravines; common in much of its range.

Uses

Cultivated in gardens, where it is valued for its attractive foliage and ease of growing so long as the spot has sufficient shade and moisture.
