This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is sometimes cultivated in gardens, and can spread into the wild, where it thrives in both natural and anthropogenic habitats. We mark the new populations in the northeast as expanded because they are relatively close to the native range, although they are separated by a gap between Ohio and eastern Pennsylvania. POWO reports this species as also found in Ontario whereas BONAP does not; we use BONAP's reported range for our map.
