This species is widely cultivated in gardens, and frequently escapes cultivation. As a result, it has established in many new areas northeast, west, and southwest of its native range. Although they mostly originated as garden escapes, we have marked all these new populations as Expanded because they are contiguous with the native range in the north, and because in the south where the populations are scattered and uncommon, they are only separated from the native range by similar gaps and follow a similar distribution pattern to that of native populations.
