Whorled Mountainmint (Pycnanthemum verticillatum (Michx.) Pers.)
Also classified as Pycnanthemum pilosum Nutt. (= var. pilosum).
Most authorities, including USDA PLANTS, BONAP, and POWO, treat this taxon as a single species with two varieties, var. verticillatum in the east, and var. pilosum in the west. However, some sources split these into separate species, calling the eastern populations Pycnanthemum verticillatum and the western Pycnanthemum pilosum. We follow POWO's treatment, at least for now.
