Habitat

Rich deciduous woods and floodplains, areas with moist to mesic conditions, and an abundance of leaf litter and other decaying organic matter.

More likely to be found in woods that have not been farmed or cleared more than temporarily.

Life Cycle

A long-lived perennial, often living 25 years or longer.
