Cutleaf Grapefern (Botrychium dissectum Spreng.)

Also known as bronze fern; also classified as Sceptridium dissectum (Spreng.) Lyon.

Many authorities recognize two varieties of this species, var. obliquum (commonly called the "bronze fern") and var. dissectum (commonly called "cutleaf grapefern"). Although these varieties are visually distinct, most modern authorities, including BONAP and POWO, do not recognize them. iNaturalist considers them forms, whereas POWO and BONAP do not recognize them at all.

This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This species is also native to Canada; we have yet to build this portion of its map.
