Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This plant is widely planted in landscaping, and can escape into the wild. It benefits from disturbance in woodlands that opens up the canopy slightly; the combination of wide planting and increased fragmentation and disturbance in woodlands has led to this species establishing in new areas north, east, and west of its native range. We mark all these new populations expanded as they are all adjacent to the native range, or nearly so.
