Cherrybark Oak (Quercus pagoda Raf.)

Also classified as Quercus falcata var. pagodifolia Elliott.

This species is sometimes treated, especially in older sources, as a subspecies or variety of southern red oak (Quercus falcata). In that case, that taxon is referred to as Quercus falcata var falcata. We treat them separately, per POWO and most modern authorities.
